1. Install Serv-U

The installation of Serv-U is quite simple. You just need to double click the downloaded installation file and click the "NEXT" button. Note: when selecting the installation directory, it is best to install it in a non-system disk, so as to avoid setting the account again when the system is abnormal in the future.

2. Set Serv-U

At the first run, Serv-U prompts the user step by step as a wizard for Settings. Here, we explain them separately:

"Your IP address" : if you are using ADSL or other dial-up Internet connection, have dynamic IP or do not know IP, please leave blank here.
"Domain name" : this is the name of the FTP site. For example, Myftp.
Anonymous account: determines whether the FTP site allows anonymous users to access it. Select the "yes" option.
Anonymous home directory: sets the location of the directory in which the anonymous user logs in to the site. Input "C: \ Ftp".
"Lock in the home directory" : , we assume that the "home directory" anonymous set in the anonymous user login in the directory location for "C: \ Ftp \ Guest", then select "yes", after the anonymous user login FTP, locked in C: \ Ftp \ Guest directory, can only see Guest directory content, can't get into the superior directory "Ftp", at the same time the directory in FTP client software is shown as "\", if it is not locked, It will fully display as "C:\Ftp\Guest". Choose "yes" here.
"Named account" : decide if you want to create an account with certain administrative rights. Choose "yes" here.
"Account name" : it is the login name of the account with 1 definite administrative authority.
"Account password" : set the login password of the account.
"Home directory" : like "anonymous home directory" 1, it is used to set the directory location where the administrative account is located after login. Input "C: \ Ftp".
Lock in your home directory: select yes.
"Administrator rights" : this is used to set the administrative authority level for the administrative account. Select no permissions.
Note: these Settings are not final, and you can change them at any time in the Serv-U home screen.

3. Use the same IP to set up multiple FTP servers

If bandwidth allows, you can also easily set up multiple servers using the same IP. In Serv-U, each FTP server in the "domain" under "local server" is called "domain". The FTP server we created above is a domain called "MyFtp". To set up multiple servers is essentially to create multiple domains with different ports.
Right click "domain" and select the "new domain" command. In the wizard that appears, refer to "MyFtp" to set it up. Just do not conflict with the port of the already created "domain" or the port occupied by other system services at the port. If I fill in 22. With the same operation, you can now set up multiple FTP servers.

4. Make your FTP more professional

When you log on to one of the professional FTP stations, it will display some welcome information, such as your IP, telling you how many people are using FTP, how much bandwidth... You can do it yourself, Serv-U itself has this function. Here's how to add this information to your own Intranet, FTP.
Create a text file and name it. For example Message txt.
Then add the caption to the text file. Such as:
Welcome to XXX's personal FTP server
Your IP address is %IP
The current time at which the server is located is %time
Already %u24h users have accessed FTP in the last 24 hours
This FTP server has been running for %ServerDays days, %ServerHours hours and %ServerMins minutes.
Server status
Number of all logged-in users: %loggedInAll total
Current number of registered users: %Unow
Number of bytes downloaded: %ServerKbDown Kb
Number of bytes uploaded: %ServerKbUp Kb
Number of files downloaded: %ServerFilesDown
Number of files uploaded: %ServerFilesUp
Average server bandwidth: %ServerAvg Kb/sec
Current bandwidth of the server: %ServerKBps Kb/sec
XXX can be changed to your name, and you can also add some text you like, but it is important to note that each line should not exceed 80 characters, in which all the variables beginning with % are 1. Here are the variables that SERV-U can support:
