Modify the MySQL password:
mysqladmin -u root -p password 123456
mysqladmin -u The user name -p The old password password The new password
Forget the MySQL password:
chown -R mysql:mysql /var/lib/mysql
/etc/init.d/mysql stop or kill -9 Kill the process.
[root@corshetlpro01 bin]# cd /usr/local/mysql/bin
./mysqld_safe --user=mysql --skip-grant-tables --skip-networking &
[root@corshetlpro01 bin]# ps -ef | grep mysql

mysql> use mysql;
mysql> update user set password=password('newpassword') where user='root';
mysql> flush privileges;
mysql> quit
# /etc/init.d/mysql restart
# mysql -uroot -p
